The Parchman Band live in Clarksdale

The Parchman Band is back together. This was their second show in public, as moving and joyful as you can imagine. They sang Mississippi classics and original songs about regret and redemption and yes, prison food.

Mark Muleman Massey is a force behind the band's revival. He credits it with changing his life, giving him work and even a career once he served his time, and most importantly: hope.

We can't wait to share more of his story, and even a cameo from Hill Country superstar Garry Burnside, who came to support and share the stage with this historic group.

Kudos to Parchman's leadership for supporting such programs, and the Sunflower River Blues & Gospel Festival for giving them this moment in the sun.

Muleman returned to his own farm at the end of the day, and the band returned to The Farm.

The next day, the Delta's finest gospel choirs took to the same stage, singing about God, redemption, and yes: hope.

Here's to more soon.
