Morgan Freeman's Symphonic Blues Experience

Love music? Join us for something special Friday: Morgan Freeman's Symphonic Blues Experience at the San Francisco Symphony. Straight from our Mississippi Delta crossroads to downtown SF, the blues meets the orchestra. Live. With Morgan Freeman.

For y'all who haven't already heard about it:

Morgan Freeman is one of the many superstars and artists proud to be from Mississippi. He co-founded Ground Zero Blues Club in downtown Clarksdale to keep the blues alive here.

It's just blocks from the legendary Crossroads of blues highways 61 and 49, made famous by Robert Johnson and more recently Sinners. This state is known as "Birthplace of America's Music" for good reason. So many stories and musical genres cross paths here...

You'll get to hear some of them unfolding onstage. With narration, some of Mississippi's best blues musicians, and an entire symphony orchestra.

Musicians and nerds can prob appreciate a peek at his screens, and how he's balancing high tech with some of music's oldest and most classic genres.

This show does that. It brings together the most seemingly disparate art forms, and together makes them soar.

Our fellow nerds may also point out the blurred fingers as telltale AI. Nope. Musicians will tell you: those flying fingers are just signs of a composer hard at work! Old-school blues musicians may also point out the strangeness of seeing their songs printed as a score. Or actually rehearsing at all, ha.

Our Delta juke joints are more than a time zone away from Davies Symphony Hall.

But for one night (just one!), the Symphonic Blues Experience is bringing the juke joint to you.

So whether you're a blues fan, a symphony subscriber, or want a date night to something never done before (literally: first show in this year's tour)...

Join us:

* Message us or the West Coast Blues Society today if you'd like to sit with the cool kids and join a champagne toast (only a few tix left at blues price in orchestra seats, so um don't wait).

* Or grab general admission tickets:

Doors+bar open at 6:30p. Show's at 7:30p.

See you there.
