Who's playing at Sunflower? This guy! Clarksdale's own James "Superchikan" Johnson headlines tonight, with a wonderful weekend of Mississippi blues & gospel ahead.
Chikan just rocked the Notodden Blues Festival in Norway, where he received a star on their Walk of Fame. He's electric as a performer and an artist: Superchikan designs his own guitars and 'diddley bows' -- and we can't wait to see what he'll bring onstage tonight.
Blues traveler #protip: visit the The Shack Up Inn gift shop, and you just may be able to snag a Superchikan original for yourself...

The Sunflower River Blues & Gospel Festival is one of the original, classic Delta blues fests. It's fun and FREE to locals and travelers alike.
All 3 days are downtown, outside the Blues Museum this year. Saturday starts acoustic under the shaded tent, moves to Ground Zero for a few hours, then onto the mainstage as the sun goes down.
Friday and Saturday are blues, and Sunday is some of the best gospel you'll hear anywhere in the South! We'll see y'all there.
