Through A Lens: the downtown photo-tour

Explore town -- and new ways to see it -- in Clarksdale, Mississippi

Description

Tour Clarksdale -- and your own camera! A local artist or photographer will walk you through Clarksdale's past+present on a 90min tour of downtown, sharing new ways to capture the sights around you. We'll touch on the first Mississippians, Delta farming, civil rights, blues, nonprofits and more. Along the way, you'll be introduced to new perspectives and learn how to (literally!) see the world differently. The entire tour is socially-distanced and outdoors. Bring comfy shoes and plenty of sun and 'skeeter protection. And an umbrella, because it's the Delta and any weather could happen. We'll go forth in light drizzle but reserve the right to cancel (with refund or reschedule, of course) to protect our hair and equipment if it's pouring and truly miserable. Group discounts available. This experience is intended to connect people with all levels familiarity with both our history and photography -- from beginners to pros, from new visitors to locals who can share history here too. All models of gear, from iPhones to Polaroids welcome! Anything can be operated with open eyes :) A portion of proceeds benefit a nonprofit of each guide's choice, including Meraki & Griot Arts.
